Regular Meeting Minutes

Call to Order of the December 11, 2013, Meeting

Chairman Crumrine called the meeting of the District 6 Committee to order at 3:30 PM at the Allegro Restaurant. Present were:  Alberta Ake, Michael Cacciotti, David Caldwell, Ralph Cecere, David Crumrine, Kathy Getz, Charles Glasser, Donald Hosterman, Kim Hubler, Michael Hudak, Gary Jubas, Thomas Kakabar, James Price, William Marshall, Dean Rossi, Richard Scialabba, Michael Vuckovich and Curtis Whitesel.  

 

Approval of Minutes                                

On a motion by James Price and Thomas Kakabar, the minutes of the November 6, 2013 meeting were approved.

 

Financial Reports

On a motion by Kim Hubler and Kathy Getz, the Committee unanimously approved the November 2013 Financial Report.

 

On a motion by Thomas Kakabar and Kathy Getz, the Committee unanimously approved the Soccer Financial Report presented by William Marshall.

                       

On a motion by William Marshall and Michael Hudak, the Committee unanimously approved the Girls Tennis Financial Report Prepared by Eric Hovan and presented by Dean Rossi.

 

On a motion by Alberta Ake and Michael Cacciotti, the Committee unanimously approved the Boys/Girls Golf Financial Report presented by Dean Rossi.

 

On a motion by Kim Hubler and Charles Glasser, the Committee unanimously approved the Girls Volleyball Financial Report presented by James Price.

 

On a motion by Donald Hosterman and Kim Hubler, the Committee has agreed to pay the entry fee for the six teams that qualified for the State Spirit Cheerleading competition.

 

Eligibility Hearings

On a motion by Curtis Whitesel and William Marshall, eligibility was granted to Monica Surovec, transferring from State College to St. Joseph’s.

 

Sportsmanship

Please be reminded that each high school will determine a senior male and female athlete for exemplifying the highest ideals of Sportsmanship.  Gold medals will be provided for those students and each participating senior high school will determine how they wish to present them.  Four $500.00 awards will be presented through a lottery of participating schools.

 

Good sportsmanship is something that is taught, modeled and reinforced. Michael Hudak and Kathy Getz reviewed the below-listed disqualification forms.

Information/Communication

The football financial reports will be reviewed by the committee at the January meeting.

 

Hollidaysburg Junior High School has requested to enter into a cooperative sports agreement with Bishop Guilfoyle for the current school year in the sport of junior high wrestling contingent on satisfactory completion of all paperwork and approval at the state level.  The vote was 18-0.

 

Tyrone High School has requested to enter into a cooperative sports agreement with Bishop Guilfoyle for the current school year in the sport of swimming contingent on satisfactory completion of all paperwork and approval at the state level.  The vote was 18-0.

 

Foreign Exchange Eligibility Hearings

On a motion by William Marshall and James Price, the following student has a J1 VISA and is approved to participate in sports.

The Next Meeting

The next meeting of the PIAA District 6 Committee will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at the Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School in the library at 3:30 PM.
