Regular Meeting of PIAA District 6 – August 2, 2005

 

 

Call to Order of the August 2, 2005 Meeting

Chairman Wotkowski called the meeting of the District 6 Committee to order at 12:00 PM at the Scotch Valley Country Club in Hollidaysburg.  Present were Committee members Raymond Wotkowski, Albert D’Ambrosia, Dean Rossi, Donald Hosterman, Michael Hudak, Vince Nedimyer, David Crumrine, Alberta Ake, Thomas Kakabar, Susan Werner, Kim Struble, Kathy Getz, and James Price.

 

Approval of Minutes

Vince Nedimyer and Albert D’Ambrosia approved the minutes of the June 16, 2005, meeting.

 

Kathy Getz and Michael Hudak will established some guidelines to award scholarships for selected officials to attend the Officials Convention in August 2006.

 

Communications

Chairman Wotkowski would like to remind the District 6 schools that enrollment information is due in to the PIAA office in Mechanicsburg by October 15, 2005; there is a $1000.00 late fee if not received by that date.

 

Financial Reports

On a motion by Alberta Ake and Thomas Kakabar, the Committee unanimously approved the June financial report.

 

On a motion by Kim Struble and Donald Hosterman, the baseball financial report prepared by David Crumrine was approved with a vote of 12-0.

 

Dean Rossi and Donald Hosterman made a motion to upgrade the track and field camera from black and white to color with the cost being approximately $3000.00. 

 

Eligibility Hearings

On a motion by Kim Struble and Kathy Getz, Tosha Stover, transferring from Bald Eagle, was granted eligibility to participate in basketball at Bellefonte with a vote of 13-0.

 

On a motion by David Crumrine and Kathy Getz, Kaleb Fleck, transferring from Hollidaysburg, was granted eligibility to participate in basketball and baseball at Claysburg Kimmel with a vote of 12-0-1, Dean Rossi abstained.

 

On a motion by Susan Werner and Vince Nedimyer, Devon Ingold, transferring from Penn Cambria, was granted eligibility to participate in basketball at Bishop Carroll with a vote of 13-0.

 

On a motion by Michael Hudak and James Price, Jonathan Hebenthal, transferring from Northern Cambria, was granted eligibility to participate in football at Bishop Carroll with a vote of 13-0.

 

On a motion by Vince Nedimyer and Albert D’Ambrosia, Joseph Weakland, transferring from Northern Cambria, was granted eligibility to participate in football and basketball at Bishop Carroll with a vote of 13-0.

 

On a motion by David Crumrine and James Price, Joseph Shook, transferring from Northern Cambria, was granted eligibility to participate in football at Bishop Carroll with a vote of 13-0.

 

On a motion by Alberta Ake and Thomas Kakabar, Danielle Anna, transferring from Cambria Heights, was granted eligibility to participate in basketball and volleyball at Bishop Carroll with a vote of 13-0.

 

On a motion by Donald Hosterman and Susan Werner, Alex Raymond, transferring from Hollidaysburg, was granted eligibility to participate in basketball at Altoona with a vote of 10-0-3, Dean Rossi, Alberta Ake and Vince Nedimyer abstained.

 

On a motion by Thomas Kakabar and Kim Struble, Colin Coleman, transferring from Hollidaysburg, was granted eligibility to participate in basketball at Altoona with a vote of 10-0-3, Dean Rossi, Alberta Ake and Vince Nedimyer abstained.

Foreign Exchange Eligibility Hearings

The following student(s) have a J1 Visa, PIAA Foreign Exchange Student Eligibility Agreement and Parent/Physical Certificate on file.

 

On a motion by James Price and Kathy Getz, Joaquin Osimani, a F-1 International student  from Uruguay, was granted  eligibility for 1 year to participate in sports at Altoona with a vote of 10-0-3, Alberta Ake, Vince Nedimyer and Dean Rossi abstained.

 

Information

Please forward your 2005 Varsity Football schedule to TOM ELLING at 220 South Fairview Street, Lock Haven, PA  17745, as soon as possible.

 

Kathy Getz, Tournament Director for boys’ volleyball, informed the District 6 Committee that Libero will take effect for the 2005-2006 season.

 

Evaluators approved for the 2005 football season are as follows:  Ronald Rickens, Chris Rickens, Dan Sullivan, Father James Conrad, Richard Scialabba and George Dyak.

 

A motion was made by Donald Hosterman and Dean Rossi to send a $100 retirement gift to Beverly Owens.  Mrs. Owens was the Officials’ secretary at our office in Mechanicsburg and has worked for PIAA for 36 years.

 

The Next Meeting

The next meeting of the PIAA District 6 Committee will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2005 at 3:30 PM at the Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School.
