Regular Meeting of PIAA District 6 – May 18, 2010
Chairman Wotkowski called the meeting of the District 6 Committee to order at 3:30 PM at the Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School. Present were: Raymond Wotkowski, Alberta Ake, Kenneth Bussard, Ralph Cecere, David Crumrine, Kathy Getz, Charles Glasser, Donald Hosterman, Kim Hubler, Michael Hudak, Thomas Kakabar, James Price, Dean Rossi, and Curtis Whitesel.
Approval of Minutes
On a motion by James Price and Curtis Whitesel, the minutes of the April 22, 2010 meeting were approved.
Financial Reports
On a motion by Thomas Kakabar and Alberta Ake, the Committee unanimously approved the April 2010 Financial Report.
On a motion by Alberta Ake and Curtis Whitesel the District 6 approved the Fee Structure for track and field.
Mike Hudak and Kathy Getz reviewed the below-listed disqualification forms.
BB Forest Hills player cursing, arguing balls/strikes
BB Huntingdon player throwing equipment
BB Glendale player unsporting comments
BB Juniata Valley player malicious contact
BB Central Mountain player malicious contact
Eligibility Hearings
A motion was made by Charles Glasser and Kenneth Bussard, to grant eligibility to Cody Kephart, a 9th grade student transferring from Portage to Bishop Carroll. Cody is eligible to participate in all sports. The motion passed with a vote of 14-0.
A motion was made by Kim Hubler and Kathy Getz, to grant eligibility to David Kephart, a 11th grade student transferring from Portage to Bishop Carroll. David is eligible to participate in all sports. The motion passed with a vote of 14-0.
Foreign Exchange There were no foreign exchange eligibilities.
Information
On a motion by Donald Hosterman and Thomas Kakabar, the District 6 Committee moved to retain all officers for the 2010-2011 school year.

Vice-Chairman - Dean Rossi, Hollidaysburg Area High School
Secretary/Treasurer - David Crumrine, Central High School
Tournament director reports for baseball, softball, track and field, tennis and boys volleyball were presented. Any questions are to be directed to the specific tournament directors.
David Crumrine, baseball chairman, would like to remind the athletic directors and coaches that sneakers will be worn for infield practice and spikes will be permitted during the game at the Blair County Stadium.
Chairman Wotkowski disseminated two articles to the Committee to review: “Sickle Cell Trait and the Athlete” and a news release with rules changes for basketball, wrestling, and swimming/diving, published by the National Federation of State High School Associations.
Sportsmanship Awards: A Press Release and all the names of the senior sportsmanship medal recipients were shared with local media and on our D-6 web page. A total of $2,000.00 was awarded to four selected students.
The next meeting of the PIAA District 6 Committee will be held on
Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at the Forest Hills Middle School at 9:00 AM.
