Revised Preliminary Information on District 6 Swimming and Diving Championships
THIS INFORMATION IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
The PIAA District 6 Swimming and Diving Championship meets will be held on:
Diving - Thursday, March 4th at State College Area High School
AAA Swimming – Friday, March 5th at State College Area High School
AA Swimming – Saturday, March 6th at a site TBD
Because of the pandemic the meets will be very different from the past. Some of the changes include:
- No spectators will be allowed in the venue but the meets will be live streamed. More information on this will follow.
- Athletes and coaches will be housed in the gym and will only be allowed on deck 2 heats prior to the heat they are swimming in. Only one coach may
accompany the swimmer on deck.
- There will be one way traffic entering and exiting the pool area.
- Everyone in the gym and in the pool area must wear a mask. The swimmer/diver may remove their mask once they approach the block/board.
- Social distancing is mandatory in the gym and will be encouraged in the pool area.
- To reduce the number of athletes at the meet qualifying times will be adjusted and swimmers must have met these times at a PIAA sponsored meet.
Coaches should bring proof of times to the District meet. (Qualifying times will be posted on the District 6 website.) Each school will be allowed to enter a
maximum of 4 swimmers who have met the qualifying times per individual event. Each swimmer may be entered in a maximum of 4 events, no more that 2
of which may be individual events.
Once all the times have been submitted the top 12 swimmers in each individual event and the top 6 relay teams will compete at the meet.
- Warmup sessions will be shortened with fewer swimmers in the pool for each session.
- There will be no awards ceremonies. Awards will be given to the coaches.
Additional protocols may be added based on CDC, PA State, Centre County, and School District’s Covid-19 operating requirements and recommendations.
Our goal remains to offer a safe and fair championship meet to our swimmers and divers.

Warm-up Schedule
Each team is assigned a lane for both the instructional and competition pools.
Lanes must be shared between teams to accommodate all the swimmers.
We will be using the wedges on the starting blocks so we are allowing the last 20 minutes of each warm-up session for one-way sprints.
1st warm-up time (Friday 9 a.m. – 10 a.m., Sat. noon – 1:00 p.m.)
Lane 1 – Altoona, Penns Valley, Bishop McCort
Lane 2 – Bellefonte, Mifflin County
Lane 3 – State College, Saint Joseph’s
Lane 4 – Tyrone, Central Mountain (girls)
Lane 5 – Central Mountain (boys), Huntingdon, Juniata

2nd warm-up time (Friday 10 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Sat. 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.)

Parking Information for Districts at Penn State
On Friday
guests will need to pull a ticket to get into the East garage on Bigler Ave.
They can bring that ticket into the
Natatorium where parking office staff members will be stationed to sell guests
an "event" parking pass. Guests can choose
from a $5 one-day event pass or a $10 two-day event pass. Once guests purchase an event pass they can dispose of the
hourly ticket and use the event pass to exit the garage (it has a barcode that will be scanned at the exit similar to the hourly ticket).
On Saturday those who have purchased the 2 day pass can show the pass to the attendant at the garage.
For others there will be an event parking charge of $5.

Coaches,
Please be
aware that Penn State will not have food for sale at the Nat
during Districts this year. They feel the Creamery is across
the street
and people can go there for food. I am advising you to inform swimmers
and coaches that they should bring snacks and drinks to the meet.
And please
make sure the swimmers dispose of their trash at the end of the meet.
Also, coaches need to be
sure that their swimmers' suits are legal. The uniform rules are on
page 24 and 25 of the NFHS rule book.

posted here on the District 6 website this weekend.
